A 30-year-old woman allegedly hacked her 35-year-old husband to death and then threw his body off the terrace of their house in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh.
Dehradun: A 35-year-old man, who was initially said to have plunged to his death from his house in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh, was allegedly killed by his 30-year-old wife who later threw his body off the terrace. On Friday (November 12), the victim’s wife was arrested and sent to 14-day judicial custody.
As per the case details, on October 17, the police were informed that one Kundan Singh Dhami, a resident of Chhinpatta village in the district’s Didihat area, died after he fell from the terrace of his house. The deceased man’s post-mortem report, however, indicated the possibility of foul play in his death.
Shortly afterwards, Kundan’s brother Dhan Singh Dhami lodged a police complaint against his sister-in-law Neema Devi. The complainant stated that had a strained relationship and would frequently get into altercations. On the basis of the complaint, the police booked Neema for murder under IPC Section 302, according to a report by The Times of India.
The woman, during questioning, confessed to having killed her husband after a fight broke out between them, Didihat SHO Himanshu Pant said. “After the argument with her husband on October 17, the accused slit his throat. Later, she carried the body to the terrace in a jute bag and dumped it from there,” the TOI report quoted the SHO as saying.
The knife and the jute bag used in the crime are among the recovered made by the police, the SHO added.
In another incident, a 40-year-old man in Karnataka’s Bengaluru allegedly stabbed his 32-year-old wife to death over suspicion of infidelity.
The arrestee has been identified as BR Kantharaju. He suspected that his wife, Roopa HG, was having extramarital relationships with her two male family members. His suspicion deepened when he saw her dancing with the two during a family trip, as per reports. An argument broke out between the couple over the issue. The accused, in a fit of rage, stabbed his wife to death.
