Trouble within the Punjab Congress is far from over as state party chief Navjot Singh Sidhu has locked horns with Chief Minister Charanjit Channi.
Even as Navjot Singh Sidhu withdrew his resignation, the problem within the Punjab Congress seemed to be far from over with the state party chief locking horns with Chief Minister Charanjit Channi.
Navjot Singh Sidhu had resigned in protest against two key appointments made by Charanjit Channi.
Sources said there was a heated exchange of words between Channi and Sidhu on Sunday in the presence of Congress observer Harish Chaudhary and PCC General Secretary Pargat Singh during a meeting held in Chandigarh.

Sources further said that Sidhu raised his 13-point agenda in the meeting, which irked Channi so much that he even offered to resign.
Channi, as per sources, challenged Sidhu in the meeting and asked him to take action on his 13-point agenga within two months.
This closed-door meeting lasted till midnight when Channi told the media that everything would be ‘sorted out’.
Sources further said Sidhu is mounting pressure on Channi to launch a crackdown on the business owned by the Badal family.
“The big-fish behind drug trafficking in Punjab as mentioned in the STF report must be immediately arrested and given exemplary punishment,” Sidhu told Congress President Sonia Gandhi in a letter.
“Luxury buses of PRTC should replace Badal-owned transporters. Road taxes on non-luxury buses are higher than luxury buses, though private luxury buses should be taxed more than ordinary buses” the letter read.
“To break the back-bone of cable mafia run by Badals” is another agenda set by Sidhu in his letter.
There are allegations against Navjot Singh Sidhu that he has been interfering with the functioning of Channi government. The party high command and Charanjit Singh Channi have reportedly told Navjot Sidhu to focus on the party organisation.
Termed as a ‘misguided missile’ by the Shiromani Akali Dal Chief Sukhbir Badal, Navjot Sidhu continues to be in the limelight.
After former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Charanjit Singh Channi is another party leader who became a foe after not toeing Sidhu’s line.
