The death toll in the Srinagar terror attack climbed to three on Tuesday after another policeman injured in the incident succumbed to his wounds.
The martyred Jammu and Kashmir police personnel has been identified as Rameez Ahmed of Yachama Kangan in Ganderbal district.
Terrorists had opened fire on a bus carrying Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police personnel in Zewan in the Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar on Monday evening. At least 11 police personnel were wounded in the attack.
The area was cordoned off and a search operation launched to track down the assailants.
The injured were shifted to a hospital, where the condition of some is said to be critical.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed condolences to the families of those who were killed in the attack and sought details.
“PM @narendramodi has sought details on the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. He has also expressed condolences to the families of those security personnel who have been martyred in the attack,” the Prime Minister’s Office tweeted.
The attack comes days after two policemen were killed after terrorists opened fire at a police team in Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
