The charge sheet filed by NIA in the Antilia bomb scare case has named Sachin Vaze as one of the key conspirators whose intention was to extort money from the wealthy and establish himself as a supercop.
The charge sheet filed by NIA in the Antilia bomb scare case has named dismissed inspector Sachin Vaze as one of the main conspirators in planting the explosives-laden Scorpio car near the residence of businessman Mukesh Ambani.
Sachin Vaze orchestrated the entire episode with the intention of establishing himself as a “supercop”, said the NIA.
The charge sheet has said that Sachin Vaze was one of the main conspirators in placing the Mahindra Scorpio vehicle bearing the fake registration number MH-01-DK-9945, which was laden with explosives and also carried a threat note.
The NIA has also said that Sachin Vaze played a pivotal role in the murder of Mansukh Hiran and had directed him to get an FIR lodged with regard to the “theft of Scorpio vehicle and he himself used the said vehicle in the commission of the crime, in the guise of a stolen vehicle”.
How did Sachin Vaze conspire?
Sachin Vaze parked the Scorpio car laden with gelatine sticks near Mukesh Ambani’s residence in Mumbai. As per orders of A-1 (Sachin Vaze) the Scorpio vehicle was piloted by a witness in the official Innova vehicle of the Mumbai Crime Branch. He was designated as the investigating officer in the case who manipulated the investigation to cover up the conspiracy.
He procured fake number plates and used those on both the vehicles to commission the crime of placing the explosive-laden Scorpio and in the planning and execution of the murder of Mansukh Hiran.
He destroyed evidence by illegally taking away the electronic records/DVRs containing incriminating CCTV footage, documents on the fake number plates. Later, in the presence of his aides, he dumped and destroyed the evidence in the Mithi River and other locations in Mumbai and Thane.
He also destroyed evidence relating to the mobile handset of Mansukh Hiran and another handed over by him to A-5 from which the last call was received by deceased Mansukh Hiran.
He himself attempted to make Mansukh Hiran a conspirator in placing the explosive-laden SUV on Carmichael Road and tried to convince Mansukh Hiran to accept responsibility. When Mansukh Hiran refused to accept, Vaze hatched the conspiracy to kill Mansukh Hiran.
He along with two other accused held meetings in CP office compound to execute the murder of Mansukh Hiran. He conspired with other accused persons in arranging the killers to eliminate Mansukh Hiran, said the NIA chargesheet.
‘Intent was to extort and terrorise’
“Subsequent to the murder of Mansukh Hiran, A-1 (Sachin Vaze) tried to project the same as a case of suicide by circulating such news through his contacts in the field of journalism. Through extortion he was collecting huge amount of money, part of which was used for the commission of instant crime,” said the NIA chargesheet.
NIA has further said, “As evident from the threat note placed along with the explosives in the vehicle planted by accused Sachin Vaze himself on Carmichael Road, was an act of terror on the part of Vaze. The intent was clearly to terrorise wealthy and prosperous individuals and also to extort money by putting into fear of dire consequences. The post on Telegram channel Jaish-Ul-hind appears to be a deliberate attempt to add credibility to the above said act of terror.”
“Mansukh Hiran was a direct outcome of the said act of terror. Besides the wordings I’m the threat note, “agle baar connect hokar aayega” clearly depicts the intention of Vaze for the furtherance of the terrorist acts to re-establish himself as a super cop by staging a fake encounter so as to regain his lost glory. It is pertinent to mention here that demand for ransom made to the Ambani family in threat letter posted on Telegram to avoid dire consequences clearly depicts the motive of Vaze for huge monetary gains from the entire conspiracy.”
