Former India captain Rahul Dravid, who had coached the limited overs team in their tour of Sri Lanka, is the frontrunner to succeed Ravi Shastri has the head coach of the senior team after the T20 World Cup.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly, who was also Dravid’s long-time team mate and captain at the international level during the pair’s illustrious careers, and secretary Jay Shah had a discussion with Dravid and the latter has agreed to a two-year contract, according to sources.
Former fast bowler Paras Mhambrey is set to succeed Bharat Arun as India’s head coach while Vikram Rathour will continue as the team’s batting coach.
Earlier, Virat Kohli had said that he will be stepping down as the Indian T20 team’s captain after the upcoming tournament.
Dravid has coached the India A and under-19 teams, leading the latter to an U-19 World Cup title in 2018. He has been heading the National Cricket Academy (NCA) since 2019 and was head coach of the Indian limited overs team captained by Shikhar Dhawan in their limited overs tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year.
