Prabhakar Sail’s claims of an alleged call between Kiran Gosavi and NCB officer Sameer Wankhede on the night of the Mumbai cruise drugs bust are completely false and baseless, sources in the anti-drugs agency said.
Independent witness Prabhakar Sail’s claims of an alleged call between Kiran Gosavi and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede on the night of the Mumbai cruise drugs bust are completely false and baseless, sources in the anti-drugs agency told India Today.
NCB sources asserted that there was never any call between Gosavi and Wankhede on the night of October 2, when the agency raided the Cordelia cruise ship and detained actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan.
Had there been a call between the two, it would have been reflected in Wankhede’s CDR (Call Detail Record) and the Mumbai Police SIT or the NCB vigilance team would have found it, the sources pointed out.
Sail had claimed in an exclusive interview with India Today TV that he had seen Gosavi receive a call from Wankhede, during which Gosavi had allegedly said that talks regarding a deal was going on.
Sources from the NCB also pointed out that the claim made by Sail that Gosavi had asked him to call his number while he was meeting Pooja Dadlani and that he had saved Sail’s number under the name ‘Sameer Wankhede’ points to the fact that Sail himself was somehow involved with Gosavi and did as instructed by him.
Sail’s allegations have been termed frivolous by officials privy to the cruise drugs case, who said he was making up stories every now and then to malign the NCB and Wankhede. There is also a suspicion that Sail was doing all this on the behest of someone.
The claim by Sail that Aryan Khan was seated in a chair separately from other accused, who were made to sit on the floor, has been termed as fake. The justification provided by the NCB sources is that the video shot by Sail himself shows several other accused persons sitting on chairs besides and in front of Aryan Khan in the same area.
Sail has been questioned by the NCB’s vigilance team twice, and once by NCB operations SIT which has taken over the cruise drugs bust case. He has also given his statement to the Mumbai Police SIT. Advocate Hemant Ingle, representing Sail, said that they will co-operate with all the agencies investigating the allegations made by Sail and will appear whenever called through official channels.
