New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will offer prayers at the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand on November 5 and inaugurate the reconstructed samadhi of Shri Adi Shankaracharya and unveil his statue.
The PM will arrive at the holy shrine at 8:00 am and will offer prayers there.
At 8:35 am, he will inaugurate Adi Guru Shankaracharya Samadhi Sthal and inspect the reconstruction works.
At 9:40 am, the PM will be laying the foundation stone of various development projects in Kedarnath completed at a cost of over Rs 130 crore.
The samadhi has been reconstructed after it was destroyed in the 2013 floods.
During his visit to the poll-bound state, the PM will address a rally and lay the foundation stone of multiple projects worth over Rs 180 crore, including the redevelopment of Sangam ghat, first-aid and tourist facilitation centre, administration office and hospital, two guest houses, police station, command and control centre, Mandakini aasthapath queue management and rain shelter and Saraswati civic amenity building.
Referring to the reconstruction of the samadhi, the PMO in its statement said the entire work was undertaken under Modi’s guidance who has constantly reviewed and monitored its progress.
The unveiling of the statue will be streamed live at the 12 jyotirlingas, four Shankaracharya mutts, his birthplace and all the shivalayas.
On Thursday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had said that the PM has contributed to Kedarnath what could not be done for the Himalayan temple in centuries.
“What was not done in Kedarnath for centuries has been done there by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will inaugurate reconstruction works worth Rs 250 crore at Kedarpuri during his forthcoming visit to the temple besides laying the foundation stone of the second phase of reconstruction projects,” PTI quoted the CM as saying.
Describing the work done at Kedarpuri as a result of Modi’s vision, the CM said that the PM has also drawn up a grand redevelopment plan for Badrinath on the same lines.
