Ahead of PM Modi’s possible visit to the United States of America (USA), three major elements of the trip are being finalised by a team that is on the ground in the US.
Plans for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States later this month are being made. An advanced team is already in the United States of America (USA) and is getting things in place.
There are expected to be three major elements in the likely visit:
* A Quad meeting that will involve the US President and the prime ministers of India, Japan, and Australia
* A bilateral with US President Joe Biden.
Both the meetings will be conducted in Washington DC. The dates are not finalised, but September 23 and 24 are possible options.
* A speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Just how the Quad will happen is not clear as yet. It could be a “hybrid” event, meaning some participants being present virtually.
The Modi-Biden meet could involve discussions on Afghanistan, the Indo Pacific, climate change, COVID, and other issues, including terrorism.
After the Biden meeting, PM Modi will move to New York for the UNGA speech.
