Thousands of brave Afghans have taken to the street to protest the Taliban’s extremist rule since the insurgent group took over the country. Afghan protesters, men, and women refused to budge and kept shouting anti-Pakistan and anti-ISI slogans on the streets of the country, even as Taliban fighters resorted to firing and thrashing.
Several women were thrashed by Taliban fighters for demanding their rights. Journalists who were covering the protests were arrested and thrashed. The Taliban have also laid out conditions for staging protests. According to the conditions for protests issued by the Taliban Ministry of Interior, demonstrators will have to secure prior permission from the Taliban Ministry of Justice before holding a protest.
A photo showing two journalists thrashed by the Taliban, with injury marks on their back, has shocked people and stoked fears of what may be in store for the future under their rule.
