Levelling serious allegations against the Mumbai Police, actress Gehana Vasisth said cops who had come to detain her in February asked her to pay Rs 15 lakh to evade arrest in the pornography case.
Actress Gehana Vasisth, who was arrested in a pornography case earlier this year, has claimed that the team of Mumbai Police which came to arrest her had demanded her to pay a bribe of Rs 15 lakh to evade arrest. Gehana Vasisth was arrested in February 2021 and was imprisoned for nearly four months.
In an exclusive conversation with India Today on Saturday, Gehana Vasisth said police demanded her to pay Rs 15 lakh. “They wanted to take Rs 15 lakh to release me. They asked me to pay them the money. But when I said I wasn’t in the wrong, they said we could make any case against anyone,” Gehana Vasisth alleged.
The actress also cited a WhatsApp chat between two accused in the case, identified as Yash Thakur alias Arvindkumar Shrivastava and Tanveer Hashmi.
Gehana Vasisth said the chat shows the two arranging for Rs 8 lakh. “That’s because the police had demanded money,” Gehana Vasisth said.
On the Mumbai crime branch lodging a fresh FIR in connection with a pornography case against her, actress Gehana Vasisth claimed that the complainant had acted in two to three adult videos. “How is it possible that she was forced multiple times by different people and paid for it?” Gehana Vasisth asked.
The case was registered after an actress approached the police and alleged she was forced to shoot a pornographic film for the HotShots app.
The case was registered under various Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, including 420 (cheating), 392 (punishment for robbery), 393 (attempt to commit robbery), and provisions of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act and the Information Technology Act, the official added.
Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, was arrested by the crime branch on July 19 in a case related to the alleged creation of pornographic films and publishing them through apps.
