The rivalry between Jitendra Gogi and Tillu Tajpuria started during their college days, which then turned into a gang war in the past 10 years or so.
The incident brought the focus on the rivalry between the two gangs in the city, the seed of which was sown during the college days of Jitendra Gogi and Tillu Tajpuria.
The feud between gangster Gogi and Tillu Tajpuria, who were once friends, reportedly started in 2010 with a college student union election in outer Delhi, which later turned into a gang war.
In 2018, there was a gang war between members of the Gogi and Tillu gang in Burari in which three people were killed and five injured.
So far, more than 100 people have been killed in the fight between the two gangs.
Who was Jitendra Gogi?
Gangster Jitendra Mann alias Gogi, who was killed on Friday, was a resident of the Alipore area of Delhi-Haryana border. He had been at the top of the most wanted list of the Delhi Police and was also in the news for allegedly demanding Rs 5 crore from a Dubai businessman from Tihar Jail.
Jitendra Gogi was allegedly carrying out his gang’s business, involving extortion, kidnapping for ransom, and murder, from inside the prison.
Jitendra Gogi had escaped from police custody three times. He had escaped from the custody of Delhi Police in Bahadurgarh on the morning of July 30, 2016.
Rivalry with Tallu Tajpuria
Meanwhile, Tillu Tajpuria, who has been lodged in Tihar cell, has also been allegedly operating the gang from inside the jail.
While the war between the two gangs started in 2010, it intensified in 2013 when another gangster was killed by the police.
In 2013, notorious gangster Neetu Dabodia was killed in a police encounter. Additionally, Neeraj Bawaniya, who calls himself don of Delhi, also went to jail. After this, the battle for supremacy between Jitendra Gogi and Tillu Tajpuria intensified.
The war between the two gangs has been going on for the past 10 years.
On Friday, attackers, who were dressed as lawyers, opened fire on Jitendra Gogi, killing him on the spot. The incident happened in Rohini court number 206 when Jitendra was presented before the judge.
