An Indian Air Force helicopter with Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat on board crashed in Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor on Wednesday. Four people have been confirmed dead in the incident.
Three people have been rescued so far while a search is on for the others. There were fourteen people on board, according to sources.
Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan prayed for the CDS’s well-being.
AAP MLA Raghav Chadha said: “Deeply saddened to learn about the crash of chopper ferrying our CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife.”
Union minister Nitin Gadkari expressed shock at the incident.

Shiromani Akali Dal President hoped for a successful rescue operation.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hoped for Rawat and his family’s safety.
Congress MP Deepender Hooda called the news “troubling”.
