Tamil Nadu BJP general secretary KT Raghavan quit his position over a video in which he allegedly is having an indecent conversation with a female party worker. He has denied the allegations.
KT Raghavan, the General Secretary of the Tamil Nadu unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) resigned from his post after an alleged sting video featuring him was released by a party colleague.
The video was posted by Manan Ravichandran, who identified himself as a BJP member and a journalist, on YouTuber. In the video, Raghavan was allegedly seen having an indecent conversation with a female party colleague.
Soon after, Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai said a panel headed by state secretary Malarkodi would probe the authenticity of the video.
Ravichandran on his YouYube channel said, “The video is being released with the knowledge of Annamalai.”
To this, the state BJP president said, “Madan approached me twice and demanded action against Raghavan. I asked him to furnish the video and told him action cannot be taken without seeing the contents, ascertaining its authenticity or seeking an explanation from the person concerned. I advised him to hand over the video evidence,” Annamalai said.
KT Raghavan denies allegations
KT Raghavan, taking to Twitter, however, firmly denied the allegation and said he would take legal action.
In a Tamil tweet roughly translated to English, he said, “The people of Tamil Nadu and the party know who I am … Those who depend on me know who I am … I have been working for 30 years without any benefits… I found out that a video about me came out on social media this morning.
“This video has been released to tarnish me and my party. Today the Honorable Head of State Mr. @annamalai_k met me and consulted with them. I resign my party responsibility. I deny the allegations. I will meet according to the law. Dharma wins!”
