Lucknow: Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah will kickstart his Uttar Pradesh tour from Friday to oversee the party’s preparedness and give momentum to its election campaign.
The home minister is expected to visit Uttar Pradesh seven times in the next 10 days. He will also be conducting three roadshows in Bareilly, Ayodhya and Gorakhpur.
The senior BJP leader is expected to address party’s ‘Jan Vishwas’ rally Salempur area of Deoria today.
With an eye on UP elections 2022, the BJP aims to cover 140 Assembly constituencies with Shah’s rallies and public meetings. The BJP leader is expected to address around 21 public meetings which will be attended by party workers and people from the surrounding seven Assembly constituencies.
Shah will also hold meetings with the BJP functionaries in different districts to assess the ground level political situation in the poll-bound state.
Amit Shah’s visit assumes great significance as during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections he was made the general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh and teh saffron party had won 71 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh elections, Shah’s charisma was once again witnessed when he engineered the political campaign of BJP and the party secured a landslide victory by winning 325 seats in the 403-member Assembly.
The Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party is turning out to be the biggest challenger to BJP in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a spree to lay foundation stones or launch developmental projects in Uttar Pradesh.
Besides inaugurating the 341-km Purvanchal Expressway in November, PM Modi inaugurated the ambitious Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in the heart of Varanasi on December 13.
PM Modi laid the foundation stone of 594-km Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur on December 18.
He also visited Varanasi on December 23 and inaugurated and laid down the foundation stone for some developmental projects.
